Hello readers! Long time, no… typing? I can’t believe we are two thirds of the way through November and I haven’t posted once yet this month. That is a long dry spell for a blogging addict like myself.
I do have a good reason… well, a good series of reasons, really. Maybe this post should come with a self-pity alert…
Half term was going well with days out & playdates, until I was struck down with severe food poisoning halfway through the week. When I was in a pretty bad shape still 5 days later, I went to the docs and got a whole load of prescriptions which cost us a fortune but tackled the problems so I could keep fluids down and get rid of my fever. It was another 5 days before I could eat anything, and another week or two before I was back up to normal portion sizes at all my mealtimes.
You can probably imagine, with two small children still to look after a lot of the time, I didn’t really have any energy left over for things like blogging or work. Luckily I finished a project before half term and hadn’t got too stuck in on my next one, so I could take a break from work – both the beauty and annoyance of being self employed is this flexibility. Unfortunately, I don’t get sick pay so I haven’t had any income while I’ve been off either!

I’ve had food poisoning before but it wasn’t as bad as this episode; I couldn’t believe that I was so out of it. I was really dehydrated so I couldn’t swallow, I was feverish and really disorientated, and it was just a really miserable few weeks. After I was back eating and feeling more normal it took ages to get my energy back properly, and the first week I was back taking Lydia to stay and play and picking Georgie up from preschool, I had friends commenting on how pale I was and that I was shaking – always exactly what you want to hear.
Thankfully I’m now feeling back to my normal self, and have been tackling the giant mess that is the house after three weeks of minimal housework being done – James was busy juggling work, looking after me and looking after the kids, so didn’t have a lot of time left over for tidying up the chaos!
Just as I was about to open up my laptop and get cracking, Georgie got sick and spent a night throwing up and yesterday needing lots of cuddles and love. She’s back to her usual self today (and annoyed she can’t go to preschool!) but Lydia who has been under the weather and clingy for a few days has taken a turn for the worse and her temperature has shot up to 39 degrees today.

It feels like it has been one thing after another here. I have loads of reviews to type up, a mountain of emails to read properly and reply to, and lots of work to get cracking on too, so all that along with Christmas preparation means my to-do list is about a mile long! We missed the Dora twitter party but I’m still hoping to have a few of Georgie’s friends over to have some fun with the activities we were sent and get their opinion on the new show – our Dora addict is a fan.
Oh no! I hope everyone is better soon! It’s so rubbish being poorly x
Hope you are all back to normal and caught up soon xxx
Oh look at your two babies all snuggled up! Hope everyone’s better soon x
Oh goodness! I have been complaining about tonsillitis but that feels pretty minor compared to what you have been dealing with! I do hope you are all better now. x
