9-12 Month Development Check

Home Chit Chat 9-12 Month Development Check

Georgie and I headed to one of the local baby clinics this morning to meet up with a health visitor in order to do her 9-12 month development check. It’s a little early as she is not even 9 months old yet, but they like to do them early in this area, or so I’ve been told!

Before we got going on the seemingly endless checklist of development indicators, the health visitor informed me that Georgie would most likely be ticking the boxes for 8 month stages of things, and that there might be a few above that line, in the 10 month stage, and some below, in the 6 – but not to worry, etc. Consequently, she was impressed (and I was suitably proud) when she proceeded to tick almost all of the 12 month development stage boxes, with only a couple in the 10 month line. Three cheers for my little advanced Georgiana!

Standing with her walker

Her development over the last few months has been really astonishing – she finally mastered sitting up unaided in November, and then got the hang of rolling from front to back in early December. Now, only 6 or 7 weeks later, she is crawling around at high speeds, pulling herself up with the sofa and walking along the edge, and has even started to try and stand up unaided. She seems to be doing something new every few days at the moment and it is so great to see her develop. She is babbling and chatting like mad these days, and says Mama and Dada at us, which is completely adorable.

As well as checking her development, we also measured her weight & length. Happily, she is staying steady on her centile line and is now 7.66 kg (or 16lb 13oz in old money), and is 70cm long. I think she is starting another growth spurt though, so I expect she will be shooting upwards again before long!
