weight update

Swimming – rain proof exercise!

Since I hurt my foot a few months ago, I hate to admit it, but I put on a bit of weight – which is especially frustrating after steadily losing weight in the first six months of the year. I went from walking several miles a day on the pre-school run to having difficulty just moving around the house.

Baby Clinic

Just got back from seeing the Health Visitor. She’s super happy with Georgie’s progress, and she weighed in at 8kg (or 17lb 10oz in old money) and measured 75cm. So that is the 25th centile for weight and just under the 91st for length – tall & skinny!

9-12 Month Development Check

Georgie and I headed to one of the local baby clinics this morning to meet up with a health visitor in order to do her 9-12 month development check. It’s a little early as she is not even 9 months old yet, but they like to do them early in this area, or so I’ve …

6 Months Old!

I can’t believe my baby girl is 6 months old already! I had her weighed on her 6 month birthday and she now weighs 14 lb 8 oz (and is now back up to the 25 percentile after dipping a bit, yay!) – this is a total weight increase of 6 lb 13 oz to her birth weight of 7 lb 11 oz – not bad!

She has changed so much in the last 6 months, it’s completely nuts how fast babies change and grow up! In a way I miss my cuddly little bundle of a newborn baby who would sleep for hours curled up on my chest, but it is amazing to see her develop into a proper little person with her own mannerisms and personality.

She has been standing up with assistance for months now, and recently cracked sitting up completely on her own. Two teeth have appeared in the past month and she is attacking food with gusto. She loves books, soft toys, anything that makes great noises, the dogs – in fact she seems to find almost everything completely delightful! The past 6 months have been completely magical and absolutely amazing – I am so thankful to have such a great person in my life!

Baby Clinic

Georgie & I headed to the surgery this morning to get her last round of jabs and for baby clinic. The jabs went fine – she didn’t even cry until the second stab, and was ok again by the time her plasters were on, bless her. The health visitor weighed and measured her – at 20 weeks, she is now 5.98 kg (13lb 3oz) and 64.5 cm long!

Also, Moira (my health visitor) spoke to me again about becoming a breastfeeding buddy and I’m going to go on a course next time they come around. So, I will be getting involved in helping other mums in the area with their breastfeeding problems – exciting stuff!

Welcome to my new blog!

Hi, my name is Zoe Corkhill and I’ve decided to start this blog as a way to chronicle my new life as a Mum! My husband & I already have a ‘family blog’ that we try and keep up to date about our life but I wanted somewhere a little more mummy-orientated to talk about …
