Since the first set of cursive handwriting worksheets I created has done well with over 14 thousand downloads (and counting!), I thought I would make some ‘add-on’ ones so children can easily practice the high frequency words used to teach phonics at school.
High frequency words are the words that children can expect to read and use a lot during Reception & Key Stage 1 at primary school. It is good for them to become familiar with these words, so they are comfortable spelling and using them.
This download includes worksheets for the high frequency words used in phonics phases 2, 3, 4, and 5. The aim is that children will improve their handwriting and increase their familiarity with these words at the same time.
- Phase 2 phonics is typically taught at the beginning of Reception year
- Phase 3 phonics is usually towards the middle/end of Reception year
- Phase 4 phonics is taught at the end of Reception year and the beginning of Year 1
- Phase 5 is taught during Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2)
