Manufacturer’s Description: In these strange times we live in, many of us prefer to wear some form of face cover when we go outside our homes either to commute or to exercise. We’ve designed these printed face masks with a filter pocket to make them feel a little less intimidating and to provide a simple way of spreading a little hope, and creating a smile for others.
Rating: (4/5 stars) Review: With the world now restarting and face coverings recommended in many places, and mandatory in others, it’s important for everyone who can wear them to have some to hand when needed. Reusable masks, which can be washed, are obviously a better choice for the environmentally conscious than dozens of single use ones. We were sent some masks from Treat Republic’s range, one of which is from their new adults summer range which is full of bright prints, and two from the kids collection which are fun and colourful. I chose the Dreamy Pastel Sky mask, James the Astronaut, Georgie the Indigo Unicorn, and Lydia (unsurprisingly) the pretty pink Fairy Princess mask. Treat Republic are donating £1 from the sale of each mask to NHS Charities Together, to support NHS staff and volunteers, which is a really nice gesture from them. These masks are washable, and made from soft polyester fabric with a pouch design to allow you to insert a filter. Each mask comes with two PM2.5 filters – sized appropriately for the mask in question. Each filter is good for up to 12 hours use, and you can purchase replacements for these easily on the internet, or from Treat Republic themselves. These masks also include strap adjusters which you can add to the face straps to give you a closer, more comfortable, fit. We used some thread to add these to the mask straps, but you can also use a bent paper clip, hairpin or knitting needle to add them – it was easy enough to do, and really does make a difference to how well the masks fit. I found my mask really comfortable to wear – more comfortable than the other reusable masks we’ve tried – and I certainly like the way it looks much better! If you do have to wear a mask (and you really should if you can), at least if you can wear an attractive one and express your personality a bit with them. Because they are fairly lightweight material they don’t feel too warm, either. Overall I was pleased with these masks, and although the cost does seem a tiny bit high it does include the filters & the adjusters, and they look great. Realistically will be wearing our masks for months to come, so it’s worth spending a little to be comfortable and happy with them. I do wish they had a better shape or some flexible wiring or similar to fit a little better over the nose, however. We give these masks 4 stars.
