A festival wedding weekend at fforest farm

Last weekend we spent two nights in Wales, at a wonderful “glamping site” called fforest farm, near Cardigan. One of James’s many cousins got married and the whole weekend had a fabulous festival feel to it, with a lot of relaxing, chatting, and catching up with family members we don’t get to see often. It was great to introduce the kids to relatives they have not met before, or have only met once around two years ago.

We stayed in one of their Campshacks, which are wooden shacks with two tents, with capacity for four in each end. We took along our bedding and were really quite comfortable – although the futon bed wasn’t great for my bad back! The kids thought it was a grand adventure and slept like logs both nights.

The wedding itself was beautiful and fforest was the perfect location. We were very lucky with the weather, as well – it rained once over the weekend, from the end of the sit down meal Saturday evening, to early on the Sunday morning. It stayed dry for the (partially) outdoor ceremony, the canapés and the photos. I drank a fair amount of very yummy prosecco (my favourite!), the girls generally charmed everybody they came into contact with, and the whole weekend was fantastically relaxed and enjoyable.

We ate all our meals over the weekend with James’s various extended family, and the food served up by the team at fforest was amazing. Homemade jams and locally sourced food served simply were all really delicious, and the canapés were really tasty. We watched the pizzas being made, made good use of the coffee machine, and dawdled over our breakfasts.

Georgie and Lydia loved being so close to nature for the weekend; we spent time watching the sheep and cows, and watched buzzards circle directly overhead. I made good use of the wood burning stove in our campshack in the evenings to warm it up, and enjoyed sitting out on the decking with my crochet watching the kids play in the mornings.
