As we enjoy seeing each other so much at local events, we local West Midlands bloggers are trying to be a bit more proactive about meeting up more to kick back and relax with each other. Some of our kids have started to recognise each other from various events so a big playdate type meet up seemed like a good idea to Joy (aka Pinkoddy) – the ideas person!
Details were eventually sorted out for when and where we would be meeting up, a few days before the date (we’re an organised lot!) and we ended up going with my suggestion of Eastside City Park. The weather forecast was good and it is a short walk from Birmingham city centre so ideal for people using public transport to get there.
After a little while on Monday morning we all managed to meet up in the brand new park – we were mostly all late for one reason or another! We sat and chatted while the kids played in the free kids park for a while, then headed to the grass area for a picnic and more play time.
Present at the meet up: myself, The Oliver’s Madhouse, Pinkoddy, Mummy_Of_3_Diaries, 92three30, Raisie Bay + lots of our children!
We took the opportunity to complete our latest #PlayPatrol missions… The children enjoyed an impromptu sing-a-long with our Bigjigs Toys percussion instruments, and the Chunky Train Puzzle gave them ages of fun; first of all repeatedly doing the puzzle, and then playing hide and seek with the pieces in the maze.
After 3pm, you are allowed in the Think Tank science garden for free, and so I took Georgie in to have some fun. Lydia was shattered so happy to chill out in the pushchair and watch the fun. Georgie and Joshua had great fun splashing in the water feature, with an entire change of clothes required for my little monster. We had loads of fun with the various interactive play areas there too. I am looking forward to returning later in the summer to explore the science garden some more, and perhaps go to the Think Tank science museum too.
We headed home tired but happy – a fab day out at a fantastic new(ish) City park! If you are ever in Birmingham with kids to entertain this is the place to go, it’s just a few minutes walk past Moor St station, out by Millennium Point.

Ooh this looks lovely. We don’t head into Birmingham that often, but it is only a short train ride so we really should! Looks like the Think Tank garden is great. We definitely have the Think Tank on our list of places to visit as we have visited a couple of science museums recently and the children really enjoyed the interactive areas.x #countrykids
