We are currently in Cornwall at my parents, and having a great time. We drove down late on Thursday, and so decided to have a quiet day on Good Friday as everyone was very tired from the late night!
Mum & Dad (aka Grandma & Grandad) live in a small village in a very rural area, so we went for a walk down the lane to the local farm to visit the animals. Aunty Katie and Uncle Mike took Georgie over to say hello to the chickens that live at the old farmhouse.
On the farm, Georgie got to stroke a one hour old lamb! There were some twenty minute old triplets too, and we even got to watch a lamb being born. It was a breech baby so watching them manipulate it into position and help pull it out was really fascinating!
Georgie’s Grandad took her to visit the cows too, and they fed them some straw. Meanwhile, the cows were all staring at Homily like she was a moving ball of straw, or something else equally fascinating! Grandad was telling Georgie all about the different breeds that Farmer Jon has.
It was really sweet to watch Georgie looking at the various animals – this is the first time she has been up close to big farm animals like this since she has been old enough to start learning about the different animals properly, and to say their names. I think she was a bit amazed to see just how big a “cow!” really is. She still can’t say sheep but has learnt “baa baa” since we arrived, and “moo” too.

Wow! Proper animals in a proper farm, none of this ‘made for children’ farms. I bet they had a marvellous time, and what an amazing experience to have had.
