Geeking Out: Gelaskins for Kindle

Home Geeking Out Geeking Out: Gelaskins for Kindle

After a couple of recent windfalls (yay bonuses!) James informed me that he was being sensible with most of our extra money, but that he had put a bit aside for some new treats for ourselves. It wasn’t hard to go from that point to owning a lovely new kindle, and even easier to go from that point to owning two!

“I’ve decided I don’t want to share one after all” – my husband, less than a week after we got the first kindle

We even had a bit left over to treat ourselves to Diversity tickets for what will be our second ever baby free “date” outing together, I can’t wait!

It wasn’t long after James picked up his new Kindle on Saturday that we realised we were going to run into continual problems with whose was whose, especially as you can’t customise the screensaver – which is how we used to tell our identical iPhones apart. Neither of us were inclined to put this lovely thin ereader into a case as we both find them pleasant to hold as they are, and so we decided to have a little look at alternatives, and came across the fabulously funky Gelaskins.

We promptly picked our favourite designs and ordered them from amazon & eBay – it was rather predictable which designs we ended up with! As I am a lover of books and colourful things, I chose a witty bookshelf design with amusing book titles in a range of colours, and James (the “professional geek” as I like to call him) ended up with an incredibly geeky motherboard design.

The skins arrived this morning and we both found them fairly easy to fit – you can remove & restick as much as you like thanks to the 3M (post-its!) glue they have used, and the skins are pleasant to touch and look at. They seem like they will provide a little bit of protection against scratches to the plastic, they have made our boring grey (and over branded) kindles much nicer to look at, and most importantly we can now definitely tell them apart!

    • Hehe thanks, isn't it fab?! So fun, and the little book names are hilarious as well – "Back to the souture", "Snow White and the Seven Warts", "The Great Brain Robbery" are some of the fun ones!

Thanks for tagging me, I will definitely have a go at it 🙂
