Two years ago, with the first Christmas of her first granddaughter, my Mum began a new family tradition. At the time Georgie was just a bump, but her 3 month old cousin Izzy was bought a Christmas dress, and so it began!
This year Georgie will be wearing this “Mrs Santa” dress from Mothercare – it is a lovely super-soft fabric dress with red & white stripey leggings.
We are going to be spending the day at my mother-in-laws house, and so we needed to think carefully about what she would wear on her feet. That sounds weird, I know, but my MIL has a whole pack of Norwich Terriers who lick bare feet, so something is required to save little toes getting cold or wet! Socks on their own were out of the question as the laminated kitchen floor would have Georgie removing them in minutes; she hates having slippy feet – she is currently learning to run and frequently falls over if she doesn’t have a good grip. Her trainers were also a no-no being bright pink (clash alert!), and her smart black shoes are probably too stiff to wear for a full day.
We’ve been solving the cold feet/won’t wear socks problem at home with our cold wooden floors by putting Georgie in Mocc Ons a lot of the time – they don’t fall off her feet like normal slippers do (she has very narrow feet), and they keep her warm and dry without the risk of going flying every time she tries to run. She loves them and will bring them to us to have them put on if her feet are getting cold. We now have several pairs on the go, and when I saw the new sneaker style range I couldn’t resist getting a red pair for Christmas day. Here is her complete outfit…
As for me? I will be wearing my fallback smart maternity dress (as seen at many weddings), a pair of black leggings, and fluffy warm slipper socks to finish off the look with some glamour!
