Before Christmas I was invited along to a special blogger evening at Rush Hair in Birmingham, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it. Instead, they invited me back to get my hair cut & blow dried, and eventually I made it in to get my almost waist length hair chopped off.
The staff at the salon were all really welcoming and friendly, and they took my coat & shopping bag for me, and got me sat down without any fuss or wait. Richard, my stylist for the day, had a chat with me about what I’d like done, and was really helpful and accommodating.
I was whisked away to the back room for a hair wash and very relaxing it was too! Richard used some Kérastase “Revitalising shampoo” and “Luminous perfecting conditioner” to wash my hair, and then used some Redken “all soft argan-6 oil” and “prepping blow-dry lotion” while blow drying it after he cut it.
My hair is very thick so I like to be able to tie it back while I work, and so Richard made sure to cut it long enough for me to do that. He softened the ends and shaped it around my face, and dried it. I was very pleased with the end result! My hair feels so much lighter, more easy to manage, and it was a very relaxing experience.
The salon itself is very comfortable, and I was offered a drink to enjoy while having my hair cut. If anything it felt a touch too stylish in there for me!
I have to admit, however, that I usually wouldn’t go to this kind of salon. The prices for a Ladies Cut & Blowdry start at £44 for the Stylist and go up to £67 for the Consultant. That is definitely a lot more than I would usually pay, and to be honest I am not sure the haircut was that much better than my normal hairdresser.
Here’s the before and after:

Blimey, you had a fair bit chopped off there!! I know what you mean though, I have been to a couple of expensive salons and they make you feel special. However, my local hairdresser will do my hair at half the price (or less) and is just as nice. I guess it depends what you are after, if I was thinking of ombre colouring or some fancy cut then I’d probably go somewhere more expensive.
