Georgie has been a Heartstopper fan since her birthday last year when we chose the first book on her birthday shopping trip I took her on instead of giving her a ‘big present’. She immediately ordered books 2, 3, and 4, and just got book 5 as a Christmas present – though she had been reading ahead on her iPad. Lydia has joined her big sister as a Heartstopper fan, and they have both been enjoying the Netflix series.
I offered to make Georgie a bookmark to go with her books, and she loved the idea so much that between her and Lydia’s ideas we ended up with seven different designs for cross stitch bookmarks.

Of course, I have converted these design ideas into patterns which you can download below – I do enjoy creating free printables for my readers. I’ve finished stitching and putting together all seven of the bookmarks, and Georgie is over the moon with how they’ve turned out.
The bookmarks are designed to be stitched on 14-count aida / 28-count evenweave. For mine I used several different fabric options included some printed aida I got from Amazon. This has been my first evenweave project and I also made one using the 13-count vinyl aida I used for my Mario Christmas baubles, and they all turned out well.

I finished the edges of my bookmarks with fray check, and then added ribbons and sticky back felt for the backing. They all seem to be secure enough to last, though there are quite a few ways to edge bookmarks – you can find ideas & help online.

I’ve put together a list of the cross stitch supplies I use over on Amazon – you can view that here.
