Ad disclosure: We were invited to the bowling alley free of charge for the purpose of this post.
Our local bowling alley, Hollywood Bowl in Great Park, Rubery, has just undergone a huge refurbishment. To celebrate their makeover, they invited our little family along to the bowling centre for a game of ten pin bowling, and to take a look at the changes they’ve made.

The bowling alley is now decked out from top to bottom in a charming Americana theme, including a Diner serving Costa coffee, slushies and delicious ice cream milkshakes. They have made over the bar, making it a great place to sit, grab a drink and socialise while you wait for a lane or play a game of pool. My iPhone connected automatically to the free wifi provided by The Cloud, which I noticed had a good signal strength all over the centre.

We tried out their super swish new VIP lanes with mega comfy seating, and cool bowling balls that look like giant pool balls. They even have charging points for your devices if you need a boost while you’re bowling. The staff were really friendly & attentive, and brilliant with the kids.

A really spot on Marilyn Monroe impersonator was on hand to cut the ribbon on the VIP lanes too, which was fun to watch & definitely added some more of that Hollywood glamour! The Americana theme and the pink, purple & black colour scheme has been carried out really well throughout the bowling centre, and it is looking pretty cool.

The girls really enjoyed bowling & loved all the disco lights & great music. We were served a selection of food which was all really tasty, and the milkshakes were amazing – strawberry milkshake made with frozen strawberries, and Oreo ones with actual biscuits whizzed up in the mixture.

Definitely a thumbs up from us – and the girls are now completely hooked… I’m sure we’ll be going back soon.

Don’t you hate it when the kids beat you, lol! It’s looking good, and the food definitely looks better than it was before! Shame it’s so darn expensive 🙁
With love going bowling with the children. I can remember visiting Hollywood Bowl when I was a teenager
That sounds fun!
Hollywood Bowl, Birmingham sounds like a great place to visit. I love your photo of the Marilyn impersonator – very swish! Great review. Thanks for sharing x
