Marvel Universe Live!

Home Days Out Marvel Universe Live!

We were invited along to the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham, to watch the Marvel Universe Live! show, and to attend a Meet ‘n’ Greet with some of the cast. Read on to find out what we thought of the show, and check out our highlights video at the end of the post.

Simply put, the show was spectacular.

Lydia and Georgie as Iron Man

We started off by enjoying some down time with some of the cast members, Georgie & Lydia sat colouring with a lovely lady (who played Captain Marvel), and there were some Fun superhero props for the children to play with, including Hulk fists and Thor’s hammer. Lydia also joined in with a Super Hero warm up lesson.

Soon it was time for the show to start, so we headed to our seats where we could hear Jarvis informing the audience they needed to get seated.

The show began with an introduction video on the screens, talking about heroes, villians, and the cosmic cube. This was a great way to set the stage for the show, complete with fantastic original artwork from the Marvel comics.

First to appear on stage were Tony Stark (aka Iron Man), Pepper Potts, and Peter Parker (aka Spiderman). It wasn’t long before each of the Avengers showed up to join the show, including Thor, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Hulk & Wolverine.

On the roster of villians, all of the big names were there: Loki, Green Goblin, Red Skull, Madame Hydra, Aldrich Killian & Doctor Octopus – and more.

As the Super Heroes tracked down the Cosmic Cube fragments, fighting their biggest foes, there were some amazing displays of martial arts and stunts, including fantastic flying… and falling! In particular, the motorcycle stunts were simply incredible, I think a lot of the audience were gasping in amazement.

There were some stunning visual effects too, with lots of firey pyrotechnics including a man in flames, Thor’s lightning crackling across the stage, and lots and lots of smoke. The sets were very clever and the changeovers were obviously very smoothly rehearsed; happening either during the action or while there was something being shown on the screens at the back of the stage, which were used very effectively throughout the two hour show.

Although the girls found the bangs & flashes a little scary at times, there were no tears and they both said afterwards that they really enjoyed it. Lydia has two new favourite superheroes; Captain America and Captain Marvel.

If you are a Marvel fan, this is definitely the show for you. It is simply incredible; both James and I found it to be fantastic. You can tell that hours and hours of work have gone into this, not to mention a lot of love, blood, sweat and tears, no doubt.

Finale at Marvel Universe Live!

We highly recommend this show. It will be in Birmingham until 30/12/16, before moving onto Glasgow, Manchester & Sheffield, then onto the rest of Europe. Tickets are available on the Marvel Universe Live! website. Our only criticism is that the snacks and merchandise were all quite overpriced, but that is unfortunately the norm with events like these.
