Warning: self-pity alert!
It’s only 11:30 and I’m already tearing my (unwashed & tangled!) hair out today.
It is definitely turning out to be one of Those Days. After an unpleasant 6am beginning, jerked awake by my husband having an epileptic fit, I then had to sit myself up and feed the baby. Lydia had also woken up with a start, and had evidently decided it was too close to morning to settle back to sleep without a fresh nappy and some mummy milk.
Once she’d had her feed and cuddles, Lydia eventually fell asleep for a nap on the bed next to me. Great, I thought, I can still relax for a bit! But of course, that was not to be. I’m sure you can imagine my delight when some workmen set up shop across the road and started some very noisy roadworks. Cue a rude awakening for my adorably peaceful baby.
Lydia has spent the remainder of the morning unable to nap, and being very clingy every time they get too loud digging up the pavement. Georgie has had two or three inexplicable toddler meltdowns already as well. She asked for a snack, then threw a strop when I gave it to her. Sometime, I’d like someone to explain why that happens about a quarter of the time she gets something she asks for! Only, not right now… I don’t think my brain is capable of absorbing information this morning.
To top things off, the post arrived and brought with it a request for me to book myself a cervical screening test (just GREAT), along with Lydia’s outfit for my brother’s wedding. Which turned out to be too small, argh! She isn’t even 6 months old yet, but this 6-9 month dress doesn’t even reach the bottom of her nappy, and will probably be too tight to do up in three and a half weeks. I know my little girl is a bit of a chubster, especially in comparison to her skinny big sister, but she’s not that fat!

I am feeling way too tired for all of this! My head is hurting very badly, I’m feeling sick thanks to the half dose of co-codamol I took first thing to try and avoid developing a migraine (it didn’t work), and I’m wishing I’d had an early night instead of a late one last night.
Roll on nap-time… although seeing how my day is going, the roadworks will probably keep the kids awake. At this rate by the time James comes home I’ll be sat in the corner whimpering to myself.
Now then, where’s the coffee and chocolate? I have a feeling they’re the only things that will help today.

Tomorrow can only be better, right? :/
At least you already got a blog post done! 😀
I certainly hope so!!
Ah, well that’s the good thing about a blog. A place to be utterly self centred on occasion and vent when needed! 😀
Absolutely 😀
@zoecorkhill Virtual hugs and open that chocolate!
@zoecorkhill Ps. Lydia is not a chubster! That’s how babies are supposed to be. I think this is another reassuring perk of breastfeeding.
I hope the chocolate has helped x
I’ve only just got my hands on it… and it is helping! Mmmm. Naptime is supposedly occurring too 😀
Oh no, I hope the rest of the week has been better for you!
