Clarks girls shoes

Review: Clarks children’s shoes are well known for being good quality and well designed, and I have to say my experience of them agrees with this. We were invited to take our girls to a local Clarks store to get their feet measured and find them some new shoes.

Lydia has never actually had her feet measured in store before, as we were in Cornwall when she started walking, and so we had the “first shoes experience” which was a nice touch. Georgie was very excited to have her feet measured using the new iPad system which was all very hi-tech! The sales assistant used the Foot Measuring Gauge for Lydia, which she sat through fairly happily.

The sales assistant that served us was really brilliant; friendly and welcoming to the children and talking to them in just the right way to set them at ease and get them to do what he needed to try the shoes on and let him measure their feet. Jamie was really helpful in picking out shoes that would fit the girls’ needs, as well as giving me advice on Lydia’s feet, as she has a high instep and will only find certain styles of shoe comfortable. I really cannot sing his praises enough.

First up we have Lydia’s new “bunny shoes” – soft grey leather with a bunny face on each shoe. The pink and grey colours work great together and the design is just SO cute. I love the little paw prints on the back of each shoe.

The strap over the foot is velcro which is perfect for us as Lydia is learning to take her shoes off when she gets in the house, and Georgie likes to help too. The soles look hard wearing which is perfect for our early walker, as she does like to get out of the pushchair and run around as much as possible. She wore these earlier this week and was very happy in them.

Georgie chose a pair of sandals from the Doodles range which she can take off and put on herself. This will be her second pair of Doodles sandals so I know that she finds them very comfortable and they are long lasting. Georgie wore them to playgroup and happily walked the mile home after running around in them for several hours.

These sandals are breathable, flexible and I have no doubt that she is going to get a lot of wear out of them, and then it is likely they will be passed down to Lydia eventually. They look great, too – although I’m not sure how long they will stay beautifully white! They will happily survive a trip or two (dozen) through the washing machine though, so the occasional foray into a muddy puddle won’t cause too much of a problem.

This particular pair came up as reduced at the till although they weren’t displayed as being on sale, which caused a pleasant surprise when we looked at the receipt. A new design with a stripes and autumn inspired colours, instead of the turquoise stars design, has been released to replace this summer look, which weren’t in store yet but look great.

Overall I am really pleased with what we got with the money and the girls seem to be too. The bunny shoes are just so cute and the sandals will be brilliant for the next few months, keeping Georgie’s feet cool in the warm weather. We give the Clarks girls shoes 5 stars.
