Rating: (5/5 stars) Review: Funko have released a brand new innovative collectible toy for kids, Funko Snapsies, and sent us one to try out! Suitable for ages 5+, there are 18 different series 1 Snapsies to collect, and each one contains 11 connecting pieces which can interchange to make weird & wonderful creatures. Each Snapsies comes with enough pieces to mix and match to make two different animals, with two different faces (or ‘moods’ as they call them). This toy has a fun opening experience – first you have to peel off the label and open up the outer casing, which contains a parcel, sticker sheet, collectors guide, and instructions sheet. There are several parcels inside each other, with parts of your Snapsies toy in between the layers. Lydia really enjoyed this ‘pass the parcel’ style packaging, stopping to investigate all the pieces that came out as she opened up each bag. It didn’t take her too long to figure out which toy she had got from the collector’s guide… We got Billie who seems to be a Llama / Unicorn / Mermaid cross breed depending on how you put it together! There are different ‘special’ Snapsies; Billie is a glitter one, and you can also find ‘flocked’ ones and metallic ones. The clever thing about these toys is the way the different body parts can connect to one another, allowing you to swap them around. You can even swap their faces, hair, and tails. Inside each Snapsies surprise toy you get enough pieces to make some fun combinations, including some clothes / accessories for your creatures. If you get another Snapsies you can mix them all up together to make your own combinations and creations. Lydia has been having a lot of fun with her Funko Snapsies surprise toy, and spent ages swapping things around and taking it apart before putting it all back together again. She loved it so much that Georgie has decided she is going to buy her one for Christmas as her present to her little sister. The included stickers can be used to decorate the outer ball, one half of which has a flat part which allows it to be used as a stand to show off your Snapsies toy. Overall we were pretty impressed with this, Lydia played with hers for quite a while and that play value would be increased even more with the addition of a second ball, and so on. The quality is really good too, it didn’t feel like any of the parts would break easily. It’s not too outrageously expensive, either… 5 stars!
