Ravensburger Craft Shed

Review: The first in Ravensburger’s new Haven series, this Craft Shed jigsaw is just lovely. I want a craft shed just like the one pictured in the jigsaw – a calm, cosy corner just to myself with a gorgeous view out onto a garden!

Ravensburger have a lovely range of jigsaws for Mother’s Day – I know I would be happy to be given any of these. To me, being given a jigsaw is being given permission to take a bit of time out to myself. I find doing jigsaws really de-stresses me and it is something I enjoy doing before bed, after putting my laptop to sleep, to wind down at the end of a hectic day.

The Craft Shed is a 1000 piece jigsaw which is a great size to do – it takes several evenings for me to finish a jigsaw of this size; I’ve been at it two evenings so far and I haven’t quite completed it yet. I will update my review with a photo of the finished jigsaw when I manage it.

In addition to the bag of jigsaw pieces, inside the box you get a great information sheet. It has a picture of the puzzle, and some information about the artist and the scene depicted by the jigsaw. I really like this being included as it gives you an easy reference sheet when you are doing the puzzle; I can then put pieces in both the box & it’s lid when I’m doing the puzzle, yet still have a copy of the picture I’m putting together.

The completed puzzle measures 70 x 50 cm which is a great size to fit onto a standard sort of size puzzle board like mine. This is necessary so that I can put it away during the day and not have my puzzle destroyed by inquisitive little people!

As always with Ravensburger puzzles, the quality of the jigsaw is high. Their softclick technology means that all the pieces fit perfectly together and you never have that “is it right or isn’t it?” moment you get with a poorly cut puzzle. It makes their jigsaws very satisfying to put together. The backing of the pieces is a nice shade of blue which I actually prefer to grey, as they show up against my puzzle board when they’re upside down.

Overall I am very happy with this jigsaw and think it is definitely worth the price. This is one I will enjoy doing again, and a welcome addition to my puzzle cupboard. 5 stars for another lovely puzzle from Ravensburger.

  1. What a lovely jigsaw – what do you do with them once complete? I usually break them up again after a few days but feel it is such a waste after the time and effort I put in to completing them!

    1. I take them apart, and store them in two bags inside the box – one for edge pieces and another for the rest of them! This makes it easier when it comes to doing it again. I have a cupboard full of jigsaws and I do redo them now and again – when I have time!

      1. Thanks Zoe. I have dozens too that I have made up then packed away again. I have heard of people spraying them with a special type of glue to keep them together then hanging them but have not tried this myself. I always love the Ravensburger Christmas Editions and buy those every year – I always display the completed puzzles on a side table in the living room over the festive period for all to see!

        1. My Dad did that once with a jigsaw we had – he slid it onto a back board, glued it on, and used wooden trim to build a frame around it. It was a big 1000 piece one the whole family did over a Christmas holiday – a picture from the Ultimate Alphabet book by Mike Wilks. About 20 years later and my Dad still has it up in his study.

  2. Love the sound of the Soft Click technology – nothing more frustrating than pieces that fall apart! Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested

  3. What a lovely jigsaw – there’s nothing more frustrating than not being sure if you’ve got the right piece so that “soft click” sounds fab!
