Rating: (5/5 stars) Review: We were sent a pair of these slippers for James to review, and he has been delighted with them. His last pair of slippers have been wearing out, and we’ve been trying to find a new pair for him for a couple of months. Some were too big, some too small, some just not at all comfortable, and some fell right off his feet when he tried to take a step. These Simba Stormur slippers, however, were “just right”. We asked for James’s usual shoe size, a 10, and when they arrived they were very true to size, and fit perfectly. With a three layer sole containing nine gel filled pressure points, they are very comfortable and he has been wearing them constantly around the house. Simba slippers can be worn inside & outside, so he is thinking of getting a second pair in a different style next year to wear outside for popping out to the garden or to the car. When I think of Simba, I think of products like their double size mattress or hybrid pillows, but I guess the perfect slipper is an ideal accompaniment to their range of comfy sleep products. The top insole of the shoe is made of cushioned leather, with the reflexology inspired gel filled pressure points ‘gently massaging your feet’ as you walk. Beneath that is a cork midsole which provides a good amount of support for your natural foot shape, and the outsole of the slipper gives it durability and structure. The gel pockets are supposedly placed at the areas of your foot that will stimulate different parts of your body as you wear the slippers. I don’t know much about reflexology or how effective this technology is, but I do know that James has been enjoying wearing them so it certainly can’t hurt to have them there. These Simba slippers are ‘felted clog’ style slippers, with their backless design making them easy to slip on & off. The buckle actually does allow you to tighten the fit a little too, it’s not there just to look good. James has been delighted with these, and has been wearing them pretty much non-stop in this chilly weather since they arrived. Our kitchen has an especially cold floor at this time of year and he is so much happier to go in there with these protecting his feet! As he works from home, a good pair of slippers is important to him to wear throughout the day at his desk and around the house. He does have to kick them off occasionally when his feet get a little too warm as they are so cosy when he also has on a pair of socks, but that being his only complaint is rather telling as to their comfort & quality. James has been wearing them much more than his previous pair, too, he likes them so much. At £69 they are more than we could usually afford to spend on a pair of slippers as a single income household, but it is definitely a case of you get what you pay for – and the price seems to be on par with other luxury slippers. James’ previous pair of slippers were less than two years old and around a third of the price, and they were not nearly so comfortable and certainly weren’t supportive or durable, whereas I expect these slippers will easily last him years. Simba use high quality materials including merino wool and calf leather, which really gives these slippers a premium feel. Overall we think these slippers are definitely deserving of a 5 star rating, and the fact James is considering getting another pair in another style next year shows he thinks they are worth the price.
