Spot a Lot Animals

Review: This gift set from Parragon Books includes both a storybook and a double sided jigsaw. The illustrations are really fun, with bright colours and amusing cartoon animals. The book is a counting book, going up from one to ten, with different species of animals on each page, that have escaped from the zoo.

Each page of the book includes lots of little different things to spot on the page; everything from a missing shoe to a balancing lizard needs to be hunted down in the excellent illustrations on each page.

The rhyming text of the book rolls of the tongue easily, and is pleasant to read aloud to the children. When our friend D came over the girls asked her to read it to them, and she really enjoyed the book as well.

In addition to the picture book, you get a jigsaw featuring the illustrations from the warthogs page of the book. The pieces are a nice toddler friendly chunky size, and Georgie had fun putting it together with no help from myself.

On one side, the jigsaw is full colour, and on the other (which has a different picture featuring the same characters) is a colour-in version of the jigsaw. The girls had a great time colouring in the different characters and objects on the jigsaw, before taking it apart to continue colouring another day. When you aren’t playing with it, the jigsaw pieces all fit neatly into the box, which velcros shut securely.

The children have really enjoyed both the picture book and the jigsaw from the pack, especially with the added bonus of the colouring-in side of the jigsaw. We give this set 5 stars – I think it’s excellent value.
