Review: One of the more annoying things about pregnancy is remembering to be good. You have to remember to take your pre-natal vitamins, which include the essential folic acid, and you have to try to drink plenty too.
With baby brain and a toddler in tow, I’ve found both of these things a lot harder second time around! By the end of the day, when I usually take my tablet, I am usually so tired that it can be difficult to remember to take it! And when it comes to drinking multiple glasses of water… well, our little Georgiana delights in stealing my drink and proceeds to either add some milk from her cup, or drink it herself! I often end up putting my glass up where she can’t reach it, and then I forget to get up myself to drink it… naughty me.
WaterBaby is excellent because it solves both of these problems! The screw top bottle is Georgie proof (so far!) so I can put it down without worrying about it being spilt or otherwise tampered with, and drinking one of these bottles gets me 500ml closer to that daily ideal goal of 1.5 litres. I also don’t have to feel guilty if I wake up in the night and realise that I forgot to swallow what James calls my ‘pregnancy pill’ before my head hit the pillow!
WaterBaby sent me two flavours to try out, the Cranberry ‘Bloom’ and Citrus ‘Care’. While I liked the cranberry flavour, it wasn’t really my cup of tea – I wouldn’t choose it over the citrus, which I absolutely loved. But that is why these sorts of things have different flavours; everyone has different tastes!
As I progress further through my pregnancy I am feeling thirstier & finding it harder to drink enough to save myself from feeling dehydrated at the end of the day – especially as the available space in my stomach and bladder seems to shrink on a daily basis! Waterbaby definitely helps solve this problem; by keeping a bottle to hand throughout the day I can sip at it little and often.
I have some friends who really struggle to take tablets, so a bottle of Waterbaby each day would be a great alternative to taking a pre-natal tablet such as pregnacare. Have you ever noticed that they’re all massive?! Pre-natal vitamins can be hard to take even for someone who can take smaller tablets like paracetamol. Waterbaby might cost more per day than pre-natal tablets (which aren’t exactly cheap either, mind you!), but if you can’t take tablets anyway it’s an awful lot better than nothing at all – getting that folic acid in you, especially in the first trimester, is incredibly important.
At £14.99 for a case of 12 (currently £14.76 for 12 Citrus Care on Amazon*), it is a comparable price, and cheaper in a lot of cases, to the other vitamin drinks you can buy in the shops, none of which are tailored to pregnancy.
Bloom (the cranberry flavour) will be back in stock soon, or you can buy Care (the citrus flavour – my favourite!) right now. They have been busy rebranding the drinks since I was sent my initial samples, and they look absolutely great.
5 stars for a great product that tastes fantastic and is great for you and your baby throughout pregnancy & breastfeeding!
