Review: Before Christmas I was delighted to win a competition for a bag of my choice from the Yippydada changing bag range. With the several weddings we are going to this year with two small people in tow in mind, I opted to go for this Bella baby changing bag in black (the same bag is also available in a stunning bright post box red).

My favourite thing about this bag is that it doesn’t look like a changing bag at all – it will be perfect for the weddings we are going to! I’ve already had a few people admire my new “handbag”.

I’m currently using it as my main bag, now that my beloved Pink Lining Poppins bag has been drafted into use as a hospital bag for the new baby. Although it’s not quite as roomy as my Pink Lining bag I’ve still managed to fit an awful lot of stuff in there – certainly everything I need for an outing with Georgie. The biggest advantage of this bag over my other bag is that it has a zip, so I don’t have to worry about it being rained on or as easily ransacked by curious toddlers!

Although the super shiny patent leather look isn’t exactly me, and I think I would have preferred the same style in real leather, there is no denying that this is a very smart bag, and surprisingly practical too. There are four internal pockets for nappies etc, as well as a small zipped compartment inside, and another outside – the perfect size for a smartphone.

It comes with an insulated bottle holder, the poshest portable changing mat I’ve ever seen, a zippy wet pouch, and an optional shoulder strap. The strap is nice & long and a great addition to the bag – sometimes you just don’t have enough hands and being able to sling your bag over your shoulder is essential.

I also love the keyring attachment that allows you to easily clip your keys in & out of the bag. No more digging at the bottom of your bag for your keys!

Here’s what I’ve got packed in there at the moment, as you can see there is plenty of room for everything you need:

  • Changing mat
  • Pouch
  • Pack of tissues
  • Georgie’s reins
  • Wallet
  • Keys
  • iPhone
  • Snack bar for myself!
  • Umbrella
  • Gloves
  • Georgie’s hat & mittens
  • Full spare outfit for Georgie – vest, leggings, tshirt, socks
  • Bib
  • Three size 5 nappies
  • Packet of wipes (full size pack)
  • Nappy bags
  • Georgie’s snacks – on this day an oaty bar, biscuits, large fruit pouch & raisins!

At nearly £90 I wouldn’t spend this much on a bag myself, but that’s probably because (as my husband says) I’m “not very good at being a girl”! I know several people who would think it is a reasonable price to pay for such a high quality bag, especially one that manages to combine practicality with style – and disguises the fact it’s a changing bag so well! It is one of the highest priced bags in the Yippydada range, they have a lovely selection of more casual looking bags that look lovely too. I must admit, my (very well repressed) girly side squeals a little bit in appreciation of the prettiness of it.

I’m going to give this 4 out of 5 stars, as it is just too high a price in my opinion, even considering its high level of quality.
