When Georgie started to crawl shortly after Christmas, we were amazed. She was eight months old and had only learnt to roll over from her back to her front at seven months.
As soon as she was crawling confidently, the health visitors were saying to me “oh well, I expect she’ll be walking by the time she’s one then”. I wasn’t sure whether she would live up to this prediction – some days I believed it, and others I didn’t… She crawls so fast that although she loves to “cruise” along the edge of everything she can cling onto, the motivation for trying to get walking as a means of getting from A to B just wasn’t there.
BUT… this month she has had her first steps! She has gone from a few experimental steps between furniture, to toddling a bit when she is doing something else and is doing it absent-mindedly, to quite a bit of purposeful walking around the living room! Yesterday evening she was taking great delight in walking to her Daddy, retrieving a toy, and then bringing it to me on the other sofa. Crawling is still faster but she is definitely building up her confidence and finding her feet! I even managed to get a little bit on video… Through the ever useful means of bribery!
Of course this means by little baby girl really isn’t a baby any more, I have myself a little toddler! *sob* she is growing up too fast! The only time she really looks like a baby these days is when she is wearing a sleepsuit for bed!

My son has just started waking too at 13 months. All of a sudden everything is easier, changing after swimming, getting in the car, putting coats on. My poor tired arms deserve a rest!
Hehe I am looking forward to the day where she can walk next to me when we go somewhere instead of being carried or put in the pushchair everywhere!
Well done Georgie! This is one cute video!! xx
Hehe thanks! I am one proud mama! 😀
Izzy just watched this and went "yay Georgie"!!
Awwww, bless! That is so sweet.
