Birthday fun!

Home Chit Chat Birthday fun!

It was Georgie’s second birthday on Wednesday, and we had a lovely chilled out day.

Waking up is hard, even on your birthday!
Waking up is hard, even on your birthday!

First up was our local soft play centre. My friend Gayle came over with her 6 month old Mya, and we met up with two of my friends from toddler group with their kids. The three toddlers had a great time following each other around – because of course all 3 of them have to use the same teeny tiny climbing frame at the same time?!

Gayle and I shared baby cuddle duties (what hardship!), and both of us had a go at taking Georgie up onto the big climbing frame. Wow, those things are exhausting. At one point I was just sat at the top while Georgie climbed up to where I was, and required me to lift her up two big steps, and then went flying down the slide at high speed… Over & over again. My child loves to slide!

After lunch it was time to come back home for cake, which Georgie was very excited about. She loved her pink explosion of a cake, although she failed at blowing out the candles as she was leaning as far away from the “hot!” flames as possible and doing teeny tiny blows! After our holiday in Cornwall last month, Dad has her well trained where fire is concerned.

I put her new birthday bedding from Mum & Dad (aka Grandma & Grandad) on the bed for her nap, and she was very excited about her Raa Raa the Noisy Lion bed. I think the cake & new bedding excitement may have been the reason she then took over an hour to settle for her nap… Oops?

By the time she woke up from her nap, James had been home a good while, and we were both a little bit impatient to see her open her cards and presents! We had some cake and then she got stuck in to her birthday wagon! It was sweet to see her rip into her presents and “read” her cards. She recognised the number 2 and kept pointing to it and shouting “two” whenever she opened a birthday card, so sweet!

The presents were all very happily received – she got lots of books which all had to be read as soon as they were opened, and she also did each of the leg puzzles we gave her upon unwrapping them too; a definite success there. My parents bought her a collection of Raa Raa goodies, with the two new books, the second DVD, the sticker book, and of course the new bedding set. There were lots of excited cries of “Raa Raa!” as a result.

Georgie really enjoyed her new Little Tike Cozy Coupe from her Grandfather, and was soon driving it all around the living room. It will go out into the garden eventually, but at the moment she is having fun roaming around the ground floor of the house in it from morning to night each day! The first thing she’s done each morning since her birthday is climb straight in after breakfast for a little trundle around the living room.

The teddy she picked out at Kiddicare was given lots of cuddles and (of course) taken up to bed. Her ikea dog has been relegated to further down the bed, and Georgie has spent the last few nights snuggled up with “Teddy!” – whilst still cuddling her Raa Raa with her other arm, of course.

All in all her birthday was a success, and exactly what I hoped it would be; a relaxed fun day with friends. Most importantly, Georgie loved every minute!
