Charity shop finds – Winnie the Pooh

Lydia and I were following our usual routine of popping into the charity shops after stay & play on Tuesday morning, and we stumbled on some lovely Winnie the Pooh finds for their bedroom. Both Georgie and Lydia really like Winnie the Pooh, so being able to add a touch more Pooh Bear to their room at bargain prices was great.

When we did up the girls shared room over the Easter Holidays, we decided to keep their Winnie the Pooh curtains as they shut out a decent enough light, and the girls love them. I was a little uneasy with them looking a bit out of place, being the only Winnie the Pooh thing in there, but the colours worked fairly well with the rest of the room, so we stuck with it. They only cost us five or ten quid at a local charity shop, back when we first moved in, and were the perfect size and length for the girls room without any alterations.

Anyway, on Tuesday, Lydia spotted a Winnie the Pooh lamp in the charity shop – and it was love at first sight. It rattled suspiciously so I got the lovely people in the shop to check it out for me, but everything was fine – the lightbulb had just come out of place. Lydia was hilarious though; she watched them so suspiciously while they took it apart, and wouldn’t let me move the pushchair around the shop – she would complain every time she lost sight of the lamp, which they were messing about with in the back room.

As well as the lamp, they had a few Winnie the Pooh pictures – and one of them was this canvas that matches the lamp perfectly. It was a no brainer to get it as well – a big patch of their bedroom wall looked so bare, and I wasn’t about to put up their old posters!

The total cost of these came to £7 – £5 for the lamp, and £2 for the canvas. They look great with the curtains, and the colours go so well with the wallpaper and their ikea bits & pieces. I’m really pleased!

These two additions to the room definitely help prevent their beloved curtains from seeming so out of place, and the canvas breaks up that big blank wall. Next up, we are planning to put some wall shelves next to the canvas, above the chest of drawers.

At some point I want to work in some sort of hanging space for clothes – I have a vague idea I want to try – and then their room will be perfect!
