Our Ikea Hack Kallax side table

My new home office is basically 90% Ikea. I love their furniture, it’s affordable, practical, and lasts years. Also, you can customise it so easily to fit exactly what you want. This is our custom side table which I made to be a multi-functional piece of furniture. It’s next to my day bed so needs to work as a coffee table for daytime use and… Continue Reading “Our Ikea Hack Kallax side table”

My personal haven; a home office tour

Over the Summer holidays last year we converted the spare room, previously a dumping ground for all outgrown clothes and other odds and ends, into a beautiful home office so I could have a proper workspace. It’s no exaggeration to say that I absolutely love it. This room has become my personal space, my haven, my retreat. I can curl up on the daybed to… Continue Reading “My personal haven; a home office tour”

How to give a damaged kids table a new lease of life – easy & cheap!

The girls have a small child-sized Ikea table in the living room, which they use to eat at, play at, draw at, craft at, and generally make various messes at! Over time, it has lost it’s shiny & smooth white surface, becoming a rather less attractive mixture of stains, chipped paint bits, and rather weird looking swollen lumpy & bumpy bits. Structurally it is still… Continue Reading “How to give a damaged kids table a new lease of life – easy & cheap!”

Review: Wood Veneer Table Lamp with Birds – Valuelights (20119)

I have been hankering after a nice bedside light for a while so when Valuelights gave us a few options to choose from for our latest review, this birds lamp jumped out at me. James & I both enjoy wood textures rather than plain, so this lamp fits right into our bedroom.… Continue Reading “Review: Wood Veneer Table Lamp with Birds – Valuelights (20119)”

Our living room makeover

Things have been a bit quiet on the blog the last week or so, sorry about that! I’ve been busy working – and then we have been really busy decorating the living room as soon as my project was wrapped up.

We are definitely DIY people. We can’t afford to be otherwise – our home improvement budget certainly doesn’t stretch to “getting a man in”… although I must admit after hours of filling, sanding & washing the walls to prepare them to paint I sort of wished it did. Realistically, it just about stretches to the materials and tools needed to get the job done ourselves, and we can only do a few rooms a year.… Continue Reading “Our living room makeover”

Charity shop finds – Winnie the Pooh

Lydia and I were following our usual routine of popping into the charity shops after stay & play on Tuesday morning, and we stumbled on some lovely Winnie the Pooh finds for their bedroom. Both Georgie and Lydia really like Winnie the Pooh, so being able to add a touch more Pooh Bear to their room at bargain prices was great. When we did up… Continue Reading “Charity shop finds – Winnie the Pooh”

Our “Ikea Hack” toddler-friendly bunkbed – Kura, Kritter & Trofast

When Georgie first switched to a toddler bed about two and a half years ago, we bought her a Kritter bed from Ikea, which has been really great and has years of life in it yet. Since we moved in here about a year ago, we have been considering long term plans for the girls’ bedroom. I have already posted about their finished room, but I thought… Continue Reading “Our “Ikea Hack” toddler-friendly bunkbed – Kura, Kritter & Trofast”

Georgie & Lydia’s new bedroom!

It’s taken over a week of hard work (not to mention the odd injury) but the girls new bedroom is complete! We still want to add or change a few things, but it will stay as it is for a few months, until we can afford to do anything else – both our free time and our avaliable funds are scarce after this project! A… Continue Reading “Georgie & Lydia’s new bedroom!”

Getting the keys!

Today was an exciting day. We got the keys to our new house! It feels amazing to know that we are free from the restrictions and insecurity of having a landlord. James picked up the keys today and went over to our house (OUR house!!) to drop off the car load of stuff that he took back to Birmingham. My fab husband even put together… Continue Reading “Getting the keys!”
