Joy in a Box

There is nothing quite as special as a big empty box, when you’re a little child with a big imagination. We are hosting a jigsaw puzzle twitter party on Tuesday, and a huge pile of jigsaws was delivered to us in this box. They weren’t able to go safely back into the box until we need them because the box was immediately claimed by these two!

So far it has been a boat, a bed, a zoo, a cot (which is different to a bed, you must understand), a car, a pirate ship, a space rocket, and all sorts of other things. Lydia keeps taking cushions, blankets and soft toys in and snuggling in it to watch cartoons, and Georgie seems to think it’s a great place to stash all sorts of things she deems important. I love that they both use their imagination so much, and the excitement & versatility of a simple cardboard box to these two small children of mine will never fail to make me smile.

  1. It’s amazing how many different uses kids can put a humble cardboard box too, isn’t it? They’re like gold dust in our house – whenever we get a large enough one in the kids are all over it.

  2. What a happy photo. Our living room is currently dominated by a massive box (it had a computer chair in it) which has given Freya so much joy. I dread to think how sad she’ll be when it comes to the end of it’s life – we might have to buy another chair! #MySundayPhoto

  3. How cute do they look squished in about together with their toys. The box fun doesn’t stop when they get older either and they learn to cut out shapes and decorate them. There are so many uses for a box.

  4. I’ve seen quite a few photos of kids in boxes this week, obviously still a firm favourite activity
