Our Cornish family holiday

Home Chit Chat Our Cornish family holiday

As my parents live in Cornwall, we try to spend a week there every summer – usually for our main summer holiday. The girls adore spending time with their Grandparents, and it’s always really enjoyable for all of us.

We spent half the time we were there just chilling out and enjoying family time, and the other half getting up to all sorts of fun stuff & enjoying some lovely touristy outings. The girls played lots of games and built countless Duplo structures, and roped Grandma into reading lots and lots of books.

The girls went down into the woods with Grandad to build a den and climb trees, and walked ’round the local farm to see the animals.

While we were down in Cornwall, we managed a few sunny beach trips – to Widemouth Bay which has a beautiful dog friendly beach with plenty of rock pools for the girls to explore, and also to Bude for an afternoon between rain showers. I managed to get in the sea, and both Georgie and Lydia had a good splash each too. We built sandcastles, fished in rock pools, flew kites, and generally got very sandy and wet!

We spent a very enjoyable day at Camel Creek Adventure Park which is a great fun family theme park, and we were there ’till closing time which is always a good sign.

Our final family outing was to the Tamar Otter Sanctuary, which is always a really nice day out. Their talks about their otters and birds are brilliant, Lydia got to hold a Harris Hawk, and we all got to feed and make friends with Dash, their three-legged Muntjac deer. They have lots of young otters at the moment and it was lovely to see them scamper about enjoying the sun. They have lots of different animals to see, and some beautiful grounds to walk around.

It was a really lovely family holiday and we made lots of memories to treasure in that week and a bit! The girls absolutely adore my Mum & Dad, so they loved every minute they got to spend with them – as did James and I.
