August is going to be a busy month for us, and with September and Georgie’s start at playgroup looming, I am looking forward to lots of fun with my family. Some of the highlights of our month ahead are:
Alton Towers!
We are headed to Alton Towers tomorrow for a CBeebies Blogger Event and I am so looking forward to seeing what CBeebies Land is like! I will be learning more about the Cbeebies Magazine itself while we are there, and it sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun. Georgie and James are both really excited about the adventure in store for tomorrow.
CBeebies Magazine has a new “Kids Go Free” promotion where they are giving away free children’s tickets to a number of attractions throughout the summer. Every issue of the magazine up to 7th October will include two vouchers for kids to go free. There are some really great attractions on the list, including Legoland (which we recently blogged about) and Chessington World of Adventures. Make sure you check it out.
Cornwall
We are spending just over a week staying with my parents in North Cornwall and I have my fingers crossed that the good weather will last and we will be able to spend our days on the beach with the children. I’m hoping for a date night out at the adorable Bude Cinema (Guardians of the Galaxy!) and to meet up with some friends while we are down.
The fruit picking at Trevathon Strawberry Farm that Fiona at Coombe Mill recently blogged about sounds too good to miss so I have put a visit there onto my mental to-do list for the trip, too. I’m hoping to visit a local National Trust property while we’re down there, and knock a few more things off our “50 things” list.
LolliBop Festival
The third thing on our agenda for this month is a day out at LolliBop Festival! They have invited me to be one of their Mummy Bloggers and so we will be spending the day there and reporting back about it afterwards. I think Georgie and Lydia are going to love it. Lydia loves to watch “beebies” and several of their favourite characters will be there so that is bound to go down well.
We will be spending a few nights staying with my brother and sister-in-law, it is really nice of them to put us up – it’s always good to spend time with them and I’ll get to have a cuddle with my nephew too!
A few fun facts about the festival:
- It is a star-studded event! Mr Bloom will be there, as well as Justin Fletcher (known as the King of CBeebies in this house), Chris & Pui from Show Me Show Me, and Cook and Line from Swashbuckle – one my personal favourite CBeebies shows
- River Island are the “official fashion partners” and will be hosting a River Island Design Den where children can customise their own t-shirt or take a strut down the catwalk
- Puffin & Ladybird are joining the fun with a “Lollibooks” area with lots of different activities including a chance to meet Spot the Dog (as I adored Spot when I was a child I am obviously very excited about this!) and a Peter Rabbit puppet show.
- Thomas the Tank Engine is going to be there! We love trains in this house so an “interactive themed play zone called the Sodor Summer Fete” sounds right up our street (or track!)
- There is onsite parking for the first time this year and it’s within an easy walking distance to the local station. Handy.
A night off!
At the end of the month I am off out for a meal and cocktails with a group of friends, many of whom I have known for years and years. It’s to celebrate a good friend’s birthday and I am really looking forward to some good food, great conversation, and delicious alcoholic treats.
It’s really unusual for me to have time away from the house without the kids or James, and so an evening off from my family is something to treasure. It’s not that I don’t love them, but I don’t always get a chance to just be me for an evening; I am always required to be “Mumma” to the kids or James’s other half. I am really looking forward to letting my hair down (as long as I catch the last train back to Birmingham I’m all good!)
What are you looking forward to this month?

Have a lovely Summer it sounds really busy, I have boardmasters in cornwall next week and can’t wait. Hope you have a nice night off xx
