Trendy Tot Thursday is a linky hosted by two friends of mine, Clearly Bex and The Mother Geek. The basic idea is to choose your favourite kids outfit of the week and share it. I don’t think I will be joining in every week but thought I would this week, as I love what the girls wore on Sunday so thought I’d share their purple outfits.

Lydia is wearing short leggings that we bought Georgie from Asda two years ago, paired with a top we bought in the Nutmeg (Morrisons) sale a few weeks ago for around £3. I couldn’t believe how well the two items go together, the colours are spot on for the stripes on the zebra and the shorts, you’d think they were from the same collection. These shorts were part of a pack of two and I think we paid around £3 for the two.
The top is 18-24 months (Lydia just turned 17 months) and I love the shape of it, with a funky hemline and cute little sleeves. I love bright and colourful kids clothes, and do like alternatives to all pink all the time for girls clothes. Her shoes are denim sandals that Georgie had a few years ago; I think we got them from Mothercare originally for around £4 in the sale.
Georgie’s outfit includes one of her favourite t-shirts, with 8 owls and a mouse. It’s size 3-4 from Mountain Warehouse, and she loves wearing it. Mountain Warehouse t-shirts are brilliant for Georgie because the shape really suits her, they are quite long and not too wide on her slim body – some 3-4 t-shirts look like square sacks hanging off her shoulders! I only ever buy clothes from them on sale and paid £3.99 for this while I was staying in Cornwall over the winter.
The trousers are really lightweight cotton trousers which I picked up in the local charity shop for about £1. They were originally from George at Asda and have really cute lilac and white floral buttons on. They are perfect for summer days and Georgie can take them on & off herself which is vital at the moment as we are potty training!
As with all of Georgie’s trousers, they have an adjustable waist… she is so slim we have given up buying her trousers or skirts without adjustable waistbands as they always fall down. Leggings are an issue too – we just bought her some 3-4 ones and although they are the right length she had inches to spare on the waist and had to hitch them up all day long!
Her shoes are a pink pair of doodles sandals from Clarks. I bought these second hand off eBay and paid around £5 including postage. The hat which blatantly does not go with this outfit well at all is one from a swimming set and Georgie will consent to wear it, which is good enough for me!
As you can probably tell from this post we buy almost all of our clothes (children’s and adults!) in the sales, or by scouring charity shops. Pretty much the only full price clothes we get them are from supermarket clothing ranges, or budget ranges. They wear them for such a short amount of time and spend the time they are wearing them getting them as grubby as they can manage, so it seems silly to spend a fortune or be too precious about them.
