Digs & Discoveries at Thomas Land

Home Days Out Digs & Discoveries at Thomas Land

Ad disclosure: We were invited along to Thomas Land free of charge for the purpose of this post.

Earlier this month we headed over to Thomas Land at Drayton Manor for the premiere event of the new Thomas & Friends special, Digs & Discoveries, taking one of the girl’s friends along with us for a fun day out.

By coincidence – as we’d invited her before my stay in hospital – Orla is the friend whose house the girls ended up at every day after school while I was in hospital, and they spent the night there on my night in a&e, so it was lovely to be able to take her along with us.

When we arrived at Drayton Manor, we headed straight to the cinema to meet the Fat Controller and his mischievous employees Rusty & Dusty. We enjoyed some refreshments (including popcorn, obviously), while the girls were highly entertained by Rusty & Dusty performing magic tricks.

We took our seats in the cinema, and Milkshake presenters Kemi and Derek came onto the stage and the girls had a great time having a bit of a dance party before we settled down to watch the Thomas & Friends special episodes.

The girls really enjoyed the episodes, although Lydia found a few bits a little scary at times! Thomas travels to Italy where he meets fellow engine Gina and goes on a few adventures exploring the area, meeting other new characters and inadvertently ending up in the abandoned mines.

Afterwards we had a great day despite some rain, with the kids going on lots of the Thomas Land rides and having a brilliant time. It is such a great theme park for kids with loads of rides for little ones to enjoy, with a good mix of sedate ones for the smallest visitors, and more exciting ones for the young thrill seekers.

We didn’t leave until the rides closed, after the girls had been on their favourite rides multiple times – especially James and the Red Balloon Ride which is the newest ride at Thomas Land, and a firm favourite of Georgie & Lydia – and now Orla too.

I’ve also made a video of our day out, enjoy!
