Fun in the Sun

Home Chit Chat Fun in the Sun

Determined to make the most of the glorious weather we have been enjoying, my little family & I have been having fun exploring our local parks recently.

A week or so ago we visited a local community project, Hope St Park. Georgie & I have been there before on our own to walk the dog, but this was the first opportunity for James to come too since she has been old enough to play on the swings.

There isn’t much to Hope St Park really, as it is just a patch of grass with one or two paths going through it, with a small play park. It is lovely to go to though as it is hidden away behind the buildings on the surrounding streets, and as such is never very busy – I think people with older kids tend to prefer the larger park which is nearby.

We had the park all to ourselves, apart from a few dog walkers, and so we had a fun afternoon playing on the play equipment – there are a few baby swings, a roundabout, a climbing frame with a slide, and a few other fun things. It was Georgie’s first go on the baby swings and she definitely seemed to enjoy herself! Here are a few photos from our fun outing… (click the photos to view them bigger!)

Yesterday afternoon we took one look out the window and immediately decided that it was far too much of a nice day to spend it indoors! We have been driving past the sign for the Waseley Hills Country Park visitors centre on a fairly regular basis for months now & have been waiting for the right opportunity to check it out.

We had a lovely lunch at the cafe, eating outside in the sunshine. The staff were really nice and carried the highchair out to the picnic table for us, so that Georgie could enjoy her tuna sandwich in comfort – it was her first taste of tuna and I’m pleased to report that she loved it! After lunch we had a bit of a play on the swings & slide, and then camped out on the grass with a rug, our kindles, some toys & snacks for a chilled out afternoon in the sun.

Georgie was so cute and loved having the freedom to roam about on the grass as much as she liked all afternoon. She would set off at a rapid pace, crawling away from us, and then sit down and have a little look around before heading back for cuddles or to play with her toys. Anyone that looked at her or walked past us was waved to, and she would smile with delight if they reciprocated. At one point she waved to a table of about eight people who were watching her explorations and was really pleased when every single one of them waved back with massive grins on their faces. She is a little charmer! Check out these photos of our afternoon in the sun…

Have you been enjoying the nice weather?

  1. What a great day! We had gorgeous weather down here too and it made me want to have a BBQ!

That photo of Georgie and Homoly is adorable. She looks like she's giving her a massage! "Been anywhere nice on your holidays love?"
