Last month we welcomed two new furry friends into our household; Tigger and Roo have joined the family.

Tigger is ginger and white, and Roo is all ginger, and they are brothers around 7 months old now. We got them from a local lady whose grandson goes to preschool with Georgie, and they are settling in nicely. They came already named, obviously after characters from Winnie the Pooh, and we’re all fans here so don’t intend to try to rename them – plus their names seem to suit them – we like them as is.
We were unsure how Homily, our little dog, would react to the feline invasion, but she has taken it rather well. I think she is more scared of the cats than they are of her, although they seem to have reached a mutual agreement where they just ignore each other. If Homily is lying in the way of the cats, they’ve begun to just jump over her so I think you can definitely say that they aren’t nervous to be near her now!
There have been a few incidents of Homily stealing the cat food (which is NOT a good thing as it gives her terrible wind!) but other than that the whole thing has gone remarkably smoothly. Roo, who is very playful, has tried a few times to entice Homily to play with him, but to no avail.
Georgie and Lydia absolutely ADORE the cats, and they have had so many smiles over them over the past month. Thankfully Lydia has stopped squealing “CAT!!” every time she sees one of them, and they have both learnt they need to approach slowly and stroke gently.
I think it does children so much good to grow up with animals in the house and learn to treat them kindly and with respect, so I’m so pleased we have got the cats – and James and I love them already.
