On Sunday we drove over to Drayton Manor to spend the day enjoying the rides and finding out just what they have going on for their Halloween half term “More Treat than Trick” event.
We arrived just as rides were starting, and left once the last ride queue closed – our little thrill seekers know how to make the most of a day at a theme park! At 5 and 7 years old they are able to go on so many of the rides at Drayton Manor that it is always a jam packed day whenever we visit, with them going on as much as possible. There are rides for kids of all ages, with even plenty of rides and attractions for the littlest park guests to enjoy in Thomas Land.
Until November 1st, Drayton Manor are running their “More Treat than Trick” event with all sorts of fun things for the kids to enjoy as they make their way around the park. There is pumpkin carving available for a small fee, live shows with a Halloween theme on the Knapford Station balcony, and more. The park is decorated with plenty of Halloween decorations, including some nice spots to grab a seasonal family pic to help you capture a memory of your day out.
The girls especially enjoyed being able to Trick or Treat the Fat Controller, and ‘facing their fears’ by reaching into some mystery boxes to try and guess what was hidden inside. We’ve been watching some original Crystal Maze episodes recently so Lydia was really excited to be doing a challenge just like the contestants do!
Thomas Land is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary this year, and you can get yourself an exclusive pin badge to commemorate the event by completing their Halloween Trail. The girls were delighted with theirs, and enjoyed testing their Sodor knowledge and exploring the zoo to find the animals.
As well as going on almost all the Thomas Land rides, the girls enjoyed some of the family rides in the main park too – particularly the two rollercoasters Accelerator and Buffalo Coaster, which were ridden on a few times! This time of year the park isn’t too busy so the queues aren’t too long and you get to go on plenty of rides. Lydia went on her favourite ride in Thomas Land, Cranky, three times – which made her very happy indeed!
James and our friend Detta who joined us at the park went on a few of the adult rides too while I took the girls around Thomas Land, and Georgie even joined them on the water ride Stormforce 10 at one point.
For lunch, we had very yummy fish and chips by the lake – taking advantage of the sunny skies to eat outside. The food may be ‘theme park prices’ but at least you get really good food for your money – there’s nothing worse than eating on days out for a small fortune and ending up with a nasty meal.
As you can tell we had a lovely day out – plenty of rides, cute zoo animals, some spooktacular Halloween activities, and fun family time.
