Yesterday our little family headed to Thomas Land for the second weekend in a row, to meet up with my sister & her family. Georgie & Lydia were really excited to show their cousin around their favourite theme park, and take her on all their favourite rides!
I got some Mother’s Day treats first… a slightly questionable breakfast in bed served up by a four year old that obviously thinks that cakes are great even at 8am, and lots of lovely handmade gifts the girls have been making at school.
Once we were all breakfasted, dressed & ready to go (not always particularly easy with a three year old and a four year old to convince into all their layers) it was off to Thomas Land!
We managed to go on almost all of the rides, and the kids had so much fun. Lydia loved going on all the rides and on occasion was even braver than her big sister, who decided to opt out of one or two of the rides this time around.
Georgie continues to claim Winston’s Whistlestop Tour to be her favourite ride, while Lydia loves the Thomas train ride the best. I think Izzy was torn between the speedy rollercoaster Troublesome Trucks (probably the best kids rollercoaster we’ve come across in the UK) and Cranky Crane, which Georgie refuses to go on because of the loud noises (but Lydia was upset she is still too short for!).
All three girls had a great time running around together and even the cold weather wasn’t going to dampen their spirits. We arrived very soon after the park opened, and left at closing time.
Georgie really loved racing about and showing her cousin all her favourite bits of the park, especially the high up rides where she could point things out to her. They rode together a lot of the time, with Lydia loving some one-on-one time with her Auntie Jennie or Uncle Andrew.
It was lovely to see Georgie & Lydia get on with their cousin so well; we don’t get too many opportunities to hang out as they live a few hours away and fuel isn’t as cheap as it was when we were kids – long journeys definitely have to be budgeted for!
Another fab day at Thomas Land – hopefully it won’t be too long before we’re back again… although it might be nice to go on a slightly warmer day… Brrrrrrr!
