We have been having a great time this Summer hunting for owls all over Birmingham. With another few weeks left before the Owls leave their posts, we are determined to find some more! This Sunday we are going to head into the City Centre to attend the Pirate event at the Sea Life Centre, and have a day of owl hunting.
My favourite Owl so far has to be Alf the Penguin, who is sponsored by the Sea Life Centre. He is so cute! The girls adore penguins so they thought Alf was fab. The Owl and The Pussycat is a close second though!
We are definitely exploring parts of the City Centre we have never ventured into before, and discovering amazing little shops and places.
I am loving the Little Hoot too – we were recently in Bristol for a weekend and experienced some of the Shaun in the City event. Whilst there we did encounter one or two school children decorated Shauns, but we were disappointed to find that they weren’t listed on the map, or able to be marked as found in anyway.
This part of the event is where Birmingham’s trail trumps Bristol’s – the Little Hoot Owls are all over Birmingham, and each one has a code to scan and can be found on the map. Kings Heath have gone the extra mile and planted their Little Hoots all over the area, printed trail quiz maps, and spray painted Owl footsteps to follow along the pavement. The kids loved it!

These trails are such a good idea, we did the duck one in Liverpool. I think my favourite has to be the owl with the Union Jack on it – couldn’t be anything but for me I suppose 🙂
