Ad disclosure: We were provided with free tickets to Pumpkin Week at Hatton in order to post this review. In line with my PR & review policy, this review represents my honest opinion.
We visited Hatton Adventure World back at Easter and really enjoyed it. When we were invited to go and check out Pumpkin Week, we happily made plans to go along on the first weekend of half term. Unfortunately we’ve all been taking it in turns to be ill since then and blogging has been put on the back burner, so this post is horribly late.
Our visit to Hatton World was a great way to kick off our half term holiday. It’s a fantastic place to go for kids of all ages with absolutely loads to do. It’s amazing how much difference just 6 months or so made between what Georgie could do this visit & last – she was scrambling all over the assault course and having a whale of a time on even the biggest climbing frame. There was loads for Lydia to do too, with climbing frames for all ages and plenty of swings.
We went to the pumpkin fields to pick a pumpkin for each of the girls; with Georgie insisting on heaving hers off the ground to pass it to me to be bagged up. We also went on the tractor ride which was Halloween’ed up with a special voiceover for the week, and live actors chasing after the trailer we were riding in. Although she enjoyed it on the day this obviously scared Georgie more than we thought as she had nightmares that night about being chased!
Both James and I took a turn at taking Georgie up to the top of the tall spiral slide and then going down with her; I am particularly proud of this as I am scared of heights, espeically when I’m wobbling around at the top of a metal tower! I know it was perfectly safe but… eeep! It was worth the climb though, the slide down is great fun.
Georgie and I had fun sifting for gold and we presented our findings at the kiosk next to the Gold Rush attraction who presented Georgie with her very own medallion for finding some gold! She was very pleased with this and it was of decent quality for a freebie. We were really packing in the activities with a go on the giant snakes and ladders too, a bit of cheating while playing frisbee golf, and some goes on the funfair rides and bouncy castles.
Throughout the day we kept an eye out for animal pumpkin signs for “Hatton’s Pumpkin Hunt” and earnt ourselves a Halloween treat by spotting them all. Georgie loved spotting them and trying to work out what animal each one was. The whole place was sprinkled with Halloween/Autumnal decorations which we all enjoyed, and there were pumpkin signs up with halloween facts too.
Our day ended perfectly; enjoying the owl show at dusk. We were the only family there and Georgie, James and I all got to hold an owl! The falconer at Hatton is really excellent and is so great with children.
I really recommend Hatton Adventure World to anyone with children, there are loads of different animals to see and so much for the children to do. We were there pretty much from the opening time to closing, and we still didn’t do everything on offer. The soft play centre is in the same building as the cafe where you can buy a great range of tasty food, and the kids can let off steam before & after their meals, allowing you to relax for a bit and enjoy your meal.
