Manufacturer’s Description: Despite its size, this Bluetooth portable speaker delivers a beautifully rich sound by emitting bass from its passive bass radiator.
Review: The Kitsound BoomBar Bluetooth speaker is a small, portable, yet fairly powerful speaker.
The BoomBar comes complete with a protective case, 3.5mm aux cable, USB charging cable, and a stand disk. It’s quite an attractive little speaker, with a nice soft touch finish & simple “easy- to-use” buttons. It is really compact and fits easily into my bag for trips.
I found it really easy to pair the speaker to my iPhone and the connection has been very reliable each time I’ve used it. If you want to ever use the speaker with a non- bluetooth device, you can use the included 3.5mm cable to play your music. The speaker also has a built-in mic for hands free calls, which is handy.
The technical specifications for this speaker boast that it has great battery life, and it has lived up to the claims. I’ve not had to charge the speaker very often at all between uses. You can buy replacement batteries for a very reasonable price online too, which will let you carry a spare if needed. Charging takes around 3 hours from flat to fully charged.
The great thing about this particular speaker is that £1 from every “Cancer Research” BoomBar goes to the Cancer Research UK charity to help fight cancer. Kitsound have partnered with Elliot, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma when he was 14 & is now in remission. He has created “Elliot’s Bravery Playlist” on Spotify, with his favourite songs which have helped him feel brave as he faced his cancer.
You can use the speaker laid down flat in or out the case, or use the stand disk to stand it up at an angle, which lets you direct the sound a bit more. There are 3 buttons on the right side of the BoomBar, to control playback & volume. On the end is an on/ off switch, the 3.5mm jack, the USB port for charging & a microphone.
I really like the case that comes with this speaker. It includes a net compartment to keep all the accessories safe. It zips shut and the speaker fits really snug & securely inside.
As for sound quality, this little speaker is pretty decent. Apart from some distortion at high volumes I’ve been very happy with the BoomBar. This distortion is certainly not unusual, and I think the sound quality is very respectable for the price and size.
We give the Kitsound BoomBar 5 stars.
