Rating: (5/5 stars)

Review: Georgie and Lydia both love making up stories, and these story cubes are a great way to spark their imaginations to get them weaving fantastical tales.

Each box of Rory’s Story Cubes contains 9 great quality cubes with different pictographs on each side, so you have 54 different images to create your stories from.

Included in the box are some guidelines – but not rules – for how to play with the cubes.

The case itself is very neat, closing with a magnetic “snap lock” to keep your story cubes safe and sound. The box fits easily into your pocket or bag, so it is perfect for carrying with you when you’re out and about, so you could easily take them to a meal out or similar to help keep your kids happy while they are waiting around. The case is easy enough to open so the girls are pretty good at putting the cubes away when they have finished playing, too.

Georgie likes to play with our set on her own as well as with Lydia or a parent. She rolls the cubes and then writes out a story based on what she gets. When she plays with Lydia, they tend to take it in turns to roll the dice, before they make up a tall tale out loud.

As well as the original set of cubes, there are now all sorts of expansion packs or alternative themed packs out, and they look like great fun.

We give Rory’s Story Cubes 5 stars – the girls really enjoy these and they are perfect for taking on the go too.

  1. We were introduced to these by Star’s home tutor when she was off school after her operation. All my kids love them and they’ve lasted for a few years now, still being brought out and played with. Ingenious little box of fun.
