The perfect bacon butty for Father’s Day

Home In the Kitchen The perfect bacon butty for Father’s Day

Roberts Bakery got in touch and asked if we would like to try their thick soft & fluffy white bread, to make James a bacon butty for an early Father’s Day treat. I am actually away for most of Father’s Day as I will be coming back from London that day, so I was pleased to be able to give him some of the breakfast in bed magic a week early!

Breakfast treats

THICK soft & fluffy WHITE

We were sent a tray, a loaf of bread, some teapigs tea bags, and a £5 Tesco voucher so that I could go shopping for a few vital bits (i.e. the wondrous thing that is bacon), and treat my hubby to a well-deserved bacon butty.

Ingredients for a perfect bacon butty

Roberts bread, buttered

The fluffy white bread was first slathered with almost-butter, just the way James likes it (yuck!), and then I fried up 3 thick cut slices of smoked bacon to be nice and crispy, without being too tough.

Egg & bacon butty

Topping the bacon, a good dollop of ketchup, followed by a perfect fried egg – cooked in the bacon fat, sunny side up, with the yolk oozing out of sandwich when cut. The second slice of bread plonked on top, and served on a tray with a cup of tea in his new mug (an early Father’s Day gift chosen by our little monkeys).

Well, that’s how to make the perfect bacon butty… for my husband, at least! Roberts Bakery will be sharing their guide to the perfect bacon butty for Father’s Day on their Facebook page, so make sure you check that out!
