Despite having a to-do list as long as my arm, and a house full of unpacked boxes, James and I took one look outside on Saturday and decided to take the girls to the park for a lazy afternoon in the sun. It’s just not fair to keep Georgie indoors with the weather so glorious, and we can always unpack and tidy up when it rains… and wash up after bedtime, for that matter!
We were virtuous and did our food shopping first, buying the makings for a basic picnic as well, and then headed to the park as soon as the cold stuff was in the fridge. We decided to head over to Cannon Hill Park as it has a slide-filled play park and a large expanse of grass perfect for picnicing!
We bought a UV 35 protective tent from Morrisons for a bargain price of £7, so took that along with us, to protect Lydia from the sun.
What followed was a perfect afternoon: good food, cold drinks from the cafe, ice cream from the van, nearly naked children, plenty of sunscreen, Georgie running about having fun, Lydia relaxing & having plenty of cuddles, and the dog enjoying a small amount of exercise & a lot of snuffling for picnic leftovers! Of course, we also visited the play park for a good go on the “shlide”
After about five hours at the park we headed home and Georgie, not quite finished yet, then played for another few hours in the garden.
What a gorgeous day. I must pick up one of those UV tents!
Looks like you had a great time by those marvellous photos! I love the one of the Tombliboo in the grass! We’ve got a UV tent too which we took to the beach in our Country Kids.
