Last month I was invited to a very special tea party at our local Kiddicare store, to celebrate the launch of Stokke’s new children’s chair, the Stokke Steps.
First up was a demonstration of the new chair. The Steps chair itself is a combination of moulded plastic and wood, which is extended by various add-ons.
First you have the bouncer chair that works both as a baby bouncer on the floor, and also clips onto the chair to bring your baby up to table height while you eat. Once your baby is able to sit up you can use the baby set, the baby set tray and the baby set cushions to transform the chair into a very adjustable highchair. The final stage is stripping the chair back down to the basic chair for toddlers and and slightly older children to sit up to the table.
I was quite impressed with the Stokke Steps, and I think it looks better in person than the images. Unlike the Tripp Trapp, the seat height is not adjustable, which I think would be a drawback for us as our Tripp Trapps have to be at two different heights for the girls to sit up to the table at the moment. The footrest is adjustable however, and a lot easier than with the Tripp Trapp – I was able to do this myself with no instruction during the tea party that followed the demo, while Lydia was trying out a chair with baby set.
I love that the bouncer chair folds completely flat for transport & storage – this is a problem we always had with our bouncy chairs; they were difficult to take with us on holiday or put out of the way when we weren’t using them. It looks really easy to do and only takes a few seconds.
It was lovely to have the chance to hang out with some local bloggers, catch up with the lovely PR team from Kiddicare, have a browse (& slight shopping spree!) around the store, and enjoy the tea party in the cafe. We were treated to lunch and given a goody bag each to take home with us too. Thank you to Stokke & Kiddicare for inviting us!
Georgie tried out the Steps chairs during the demo and afterwards in store, and pronounced them very comfy. Lydia seemed to like it too, she certainly gobbled up her food while she sat happily in it, and we find it difficult to find highchairs she likes.
When we were at the Baby Show a few days later I took the opportunity to check out the Steps again at the Stokke stand and snapped this pic of the chair in all its possible configurations, the versatility of this chair is some pretty impressive stuff!
