One thing I adore about being a parent is that I now have a legitimate excuse to buy toys – I cannot wait for the days of Duplo and Playmobil!
It will be a happy day in this house when Georgie can have her first train set – James & I both have a weakness for train sets and I long for the day when we can welcome a Brio train set into the house. Of course, James has been trying to convince me that Georgie is going to be a huge Hornby fan and we must have a huge set acquired for her, preferably by the time she is five!
There is something incredibly special about wooden toys. My brother gave Georgie an absolutely gorgeous wooden Noah’s Ark
* for Christmas and she really loves it. I think wood is so tactile to play with and that it’s important for Georgie to have something other than soft toys or the various plastic things she has!
The mula range of wooden toys from Ikea is great, and I think a few might make their way into the pile of presents Georgie will be getting for her 1st birthday! They sell wooden train sets as well, which “are compatible with most other wooden train sets available” – so that we can mix and match brands and end up with a massive rail system on our living room floor… I can hear the “whoo-whoo” noises already!
