Lydia is a huge fan of the Netflix show Wednesday, and is very excited about the upcoming season 2! Over the last year she has acquired a collection of Wednesday merch, including everything from clothes to keyrings.
A huge design centrepiece in the show is the dorm window in the room shared by black & white loving Wednesday and her friend Enid, who loves everything colourful and sparkly. The large window at the back of their room is half decorated with crazy colours by Enid, and starkly black & white on Wednesday’s side. I thought this would be gorgeous translated onto fabric, and perfect for blackwork in particular.
I chose to use variegated thread for the window panes that have multiple colours, and complementary solid colours for the other panes – trying to match both the variegated thread I used and the original colours in the show.
For the different window panes, I chose/created patterns based on the show. I’ve included Wednesday’s love of checkerboard patterns in her clothing, the dahlia flowers that crop up frequently throughout the show, and different elements from the Nevermore Academy crest, including tiny versions of the crest itself.
Included in the pattern documents are several different colour variations based on different variegated threads, so you can choose whatever look you want to go with. Of course, these are just my suggestions, based on my DMC colour shade card & the threads I have, but you can use your own combinations:
