Word of the Week – 28/03/14

Home Chit Chat Word of the Week – 28/03/14

The best word to sum up the past week, has to be…

Yo-yo!

We have had a bizarre week that really has yo-yo-ed from good to bad, and though nothing truly dreadful has happened it’s been a bit crazy! The goods have definitely outweighed the bass though, thanks to what arrived in the world yesterday! Let me explain…

The Weekend – we went shopping and managed to find curtains perfect for the spare room and girls room, as well as a second hand desk for me from the Mind charity shop. I went out on Saturday night for a meal & cocktails with friends to celebrate a birthday and though I was tired it was lovely to relax and socialise with other adults like a proper grown-up! On Sunday we got loads of sorting done, and James put up the new curtain rails in both of those rooms & we hung the curtains.

Monday – I had the worst migraine I have had for a long time. Combined with the bug I’m trying to fight off at the moment, I was pretty much a useless lump who could barely open it’s eyes or cope with any noise at all. James, my lovely husband, had to stay home to look after the kids while I basically drugged myself into a pathetic doze.

Tuesday – Our new appliances came, and my desk arrived! I am really looking forward to making a cosy little space for me to work and blog in the living room, and the desk we found fits perfectly in the space we have, and looks great with my existing desk chair and our entertainment unit, too. The new fridge freezer is lovely and big, and I cannot wait for the new cooker to be installed next week as we are currently managing with an old gas cooker whose ovens don’t work at all and the hob is basically off or on! James also fetched our kitchen table – a lovely solid pine farmhouse style table in great condition which only set us back £30, bargain.

Wednesday – James took the car to Kwik Fit after it made nasty noises and didn’t brake fully on the motorway the night before. We knew after last weeks service that the car needed new pads, but the discs turned out to be damaged too so we paid out several hundred pounds to have all the back discs and pads replaced. Ouch.

Thursday – I made some good progress sorting out through the piles boxes and sorting out the living room a little bit. I also found our fridge magnet collection and decorated our fridge – almost 7 years of special memories & days out with James are represented on it now. The biggest news of the day? My nephew Daniel was born! He looks so adorable, I can’t wait to meet him next month.

How has your week been?
