On Sunday morning we headed over to Merry Hill to explore Quest – a recreation centre aimed at all ages, built into the shopping centre.
Quest has a whole range of activities to do; we tried out Yu Kids Adventure Soft Play, Sky Tykes, and the Altitude High Ropes Course. The kids – and James! – has a whale of a time, and came home very tired but happy.
Yu Kids Adventure Soft Play is a soft play centre with a difference – it is much more modern looking than traditional soft play centres; developed in Japan and decked out in a grey, pink, green & blue colour scheme. Many of the structures in the play area are motorised, with a spinning drum and a slide with a built in waterfall being just a few of the weird but wonderful activities on offer. The girls spent ages running about, climbing, sliding, and bouncing in the play centre, and really loved it. There is also an area for under twos to enjoy, and comfortable seating for adults.
Sky Tykes is a kids ropes course – just a few foot off the ground, the kids are harnesses in and are able to explore the assault course with an adult walking along side – or on their own if they are feeling adventurous! It allows the kids to do a slightly more advanced adventure play frame in a completely safe way. Both Lydia and Georgie enjoyed it, and it was great to see their proud faces as they stepped down the stairs back to ground level!
The Altitude High Ropes Course is impressive – considering it is built inside a shopping centre, this four level high ropes course is quite big and enough to challenge anyone. I sent James up to try it out (someone had to stay on the ground to take pics!) and he had a great time climbing the huge structure. Of course, adventurers are completely safe, harnessed in the entire time… But that doesn’t stop it being scary. It’s certainly a challenging course, although make sure you take your jumper off before heading up – James left his hoody on and had to come down after two layers, it gets warm up there.
They also have plenty more on offer, including mini golf, nerd blasters, and various other activities depending on the weather, etc.
Previously I have to admit I’ve looked at Quest, then looked at the prices and squeaked in dismay. However, it’s now under new management and the new prices are much more reasonable, the time limits have been lifted, and I wouldn’t deny the girls a run about if we were at Merry Hill to shop in future. I would definitely recommend Quest to adventurers young and old now.
This looks like sucha great addition to a shopping centre and I wish our local ones had a Quest too! x
