Half term activities in & around Birmingham

The half term holidays are rapidly approaching (meanwhile I am finding it hard to believe Lydia has been a school child over a month already!) and so I’ve put together this list of places to go and things to do in & around Birmingham this Autumn half term. With Halloween coming up, a lot of Birmingham attractions are hosting spooky events and activities, and there… Continue Reading “Half term activities in & around Birmingham”

Visiting the Tamar Otter & Wildlife Centre, Cornwall

While we were staying with my parents during the summer, we visited the Tamar Otter & Wildlife Centre in North Cornwall. It is a wonderful family friendly place to visit, with lots of different animals to see. The grounds of the sanctuary are really beautiful, and they do several talks about their otters and also about the birds of prey they have there. Lydia got… Continue Reading “Visiting the Tamar Otter & Wildlife Centre, Cornwall”

A day at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, Gweek

As part of our role as ambassadors for the Birmingham Sea Life Centre, we have been given Sea Life annual passes for our whole family, so we are able to visit as much as we like. The great thing about the Sea Life annual pass is that it gets you admission to all of the Sea Life centres outside of London (and the ones inside… Continue Reading “A day at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, Gweek”

Learning to be elves at intu Merry Hill Elf School.

On Friday afternoon, we headed to the intu Merry Hill shopping centre to check out their “Elf School” Father Christmas experience. Georgie and Lydia were joined by Georgie’s best friend Sophie and they were all very excited to be on an outing together! We ate some lunch then headed straight to the Elf School.… Continue Reading “Learning to be elves at intu Merry Hill Elf School.”

Enchanted Christmas Kingdom at Hatton Adventure World

Disclosure: We were provided with free tickets in order to experience & blog about Hatton’s Enchanted Christmas Kingdom event. This post reflects my honest opinion on our day. We were invited back to Hatton Adventure World so that we could check out the Enchanted Christmas Kingdom event, and we went along on Sunday to take a look. It was a really cold day with hail showers… Continue Reading “Enchanted Christmas Kingdom at Hatton Adventure World”

Fun at Play at Brewers Fayre

Yesterday we spent the morning at a local Brewers Fayre “Pub Restaurant” to celebrate the opening of the chain’s first “Play at Brewers Fayre” facility. The new soft play area at The Guild pub at Bromsgrove is the next step in their partnership with Beano, whose characters already adorn the kids menu.… Continue Reading “Fun at Play at Brewers Fayre”

Christmas Celebration Weekends at Cadbury World

We visited Cadbury World last weekend to check out their Christmas Celebration Weekends, and had a fantastic day. We are very local so it only took us 5 minutes to get there in the car. Parking is plentiful and free, but if you are travelling by train the Bournville station is just a short walk away.… Continue Reading “Christmas Celebration Weekends at Cadbury World”

Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic

On Saturday afternoon, we headed into Birmingham City Centre to watch the Disney on Ice show at the NIA. It was FANTASTIC.

We parked up in the NIA car park, and found the queue & entrance easily. Our tickets were checked as we entered and our bag searched. We found our seats easily, with the help of one of the many stewards that were dotted around the arena. The NIA is undergoing a refurbishment at the moment, which is nearly complete, and the new chairs were comfy and the loos much improved.… Continue Reading “Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic”

A day at Chessington World of Adventures with Samsung Galaxy K Zoom

Samsung kindly sent us a Galaxy K Zoom smartphone to try out, along with a family ticket to Chessington World of Adventures, so that we could have a day out to test the 10x zoom camera on the phone. We invited my sister & her family to join us for a proper family day out, with two three year olds between us to enjoy the… Continue Reading “A day at Chessington World of Adventures with Samsung Galaxy K Zoom”

A day out at Legoland Windsor

We were invited by SuperBreak, who sell short breaks combining accommodation and attraction tickets, to spend a day at the Legoland Windsor Resort in order to see what it has to offer for families.    We are about two hours drive from the resort so James booked a Wednesday off work, and we planned to get up early and be there around opening time, at 10am.… Continue Reading “A day out at Legoland Windsor”

Travelling on Swanage Railway & Visiting Corfe Castle Model Village

On the final morning of our recent holiday in Dorset, we packed up the caravan and headed to Norden to go for a ride on the steam train at Swanage Railway. Georgie adores trains, so this was the only preplanned activity of our holiday – obviously we checked to find the nearest steam railway before we left! We started off by taking a train from… Continue Reading “Travelling on Swanage Railway & Visiting Corfe Castle Model Village”

An afternoon at Moors Valley Country Park & Forest

On our way down to our Haven holiday park last week, we decided to take advantage of the unexpectedly fantastic weather and stop off somewhere to go for a walk & enjoy the sunshine. I loaded up the maps app on my phone and looked at the names of the areas & places we would be passing by. Moors Valley Country Park & Forest jumped out… Continue Reading “An afternoon at Moors Valley Country Park & Forest”
