Soppy Sentimentality

Do you ever get those moments looking at your children where you are just completely overwhelmed by emotion? I still find it completely amazing that there is this perfect little girl (that I GREW) who looks at me and sees me as the most important person in the whole wide world. I am simply the …

Brilliance in Blogging Awards

As a newcomer to the Mummy Blogging community, I’m not sure what to think of these blogging awards that seem to be all the rage. Some of the posts and tweets I’ve seen that have been positively begging for nominations or votes have put me off the whole thing a little, to be honest! That said, …

Some Music on a Monday Morning

The lovely @bublet2011 tagged me in a musical meme yesterday, so here goes… The basic idea is that you put your mp3 player into shuffle mode and then list the first five songs that pop up. No cheating, no excuses, and no skipping songs to try and avoid any embarrassment! Here are my five songs: Kate …

What we’ve been up to lately..

The short answer to the above, is not too much! I haven’t been blogging an awful lot in the past few weeks because I’ve been ill, which has been completely rubbish. I had some sort of stomach bug which made me quite sick and very tired out & lethargic, followed almost immediately by a bad …

Emergency Changing Station

Pro Tip: that parcel shelf that you have in the back of the car? Add a portable changing mat, a muslin cloth to soak up any little dribbles of wee, and It makes a fab changing station in an emergency – it’s the perfect height and saves scrabbling around on the back seat! We discovered this today when Georgie did a massive poop on the way to Asda, which ended up with James doing an emergency change on the parcel shelf while I wiped the car seat down! The ‘parcel shelf’ is now officially renamed the ‘super duper automotive emergency changing station shelf’. Cos let’s face it, who keeps parcels on there anyway?!

Georgie’s latest thing

Georgie has now discovered the wondrous activity that is sticking your tongue out, and is doing it to James & myself (and even the dog) every time we make eye contact. It started sometime yesterday and has obviously jumped to the top of the list of “Georgie’s favourite activities”, just above growling at everyone she sees, hitting things with her wooden spoon, and kicking her leg rhythmically while she is feeding.

Getting weepy at Grey’s Anatomy

You think that true love is the only thing that can crush your heart; the thing that will take your life and light it up. Or destroy it. Then, you become a mother.

– Meredith, Grey’s Anatomy

What’s in a name?

Everyone has at least a few different names, or labels – I can think of quite a few I’ve had in the past, as well as some new ones I’ve acquired lately. Some of my past names include: Lola, Zwe, Little Smithy (my maiden name is Smith and Smithy was already assigned to my older …

A to Z of Me

I noticed this on mrsslummymummy’s blog & thought I’d have a go myself! I love memes like this, they get you writing about random stuff and I find reading other people’s satisfies my nosey streak beautifully!

ANORAK…Do you have a sad side? I’m a bit addicted to jigsaws, which is a bit of a weird hobby these days. My brother-in-law called me jigsaw yoda once, because I’m a bit freaky with them when I have the picture to hand (pick up a piece, look at piece, look at picture, place piece pretty much exactly where it goes). I have to play mystery jigsaws with no picture provided if I want a decent challenge!

BODY…What physical attribute would you most like to change? Um, probably my weight, although it doesn’t bother me too much. I’m losing weight gradually at the moment which is good for health reasons, if nothing else! I used to be quite ill with headaches & migraines which meant I spent a lot of time in bed exhausted and/or ill.

Mmmm!

CELEBRITY…Which one would you most like to date and why? I have a bit of a thing for James McAvoy. Yum.

Baby Clinic

Georgie & I headed to the surgery this morning to get her last round of jabs and for baby clinic. The jabs went fine – she didn’t even cry until the second stab, and was ok again by the time her plasters were on, bless her. The health visitor weighed and measured her – at 20 weeks, she is now 5.98 kg (13lb 3oz) and 64.5 cm long!

Also, Moira (my health visitor) spoke to me again about becoming a breastfeeding buddy and I’m going to go on a course next time they come around. So, I will be getting involved in helping other mums in the area with their breastfeeding problems – exciting stuff!
