The Utomik Gaming Subscription is an interesting service I hadn’t come across before they approached me about this series. You pay a monthly fee and in exchange can play any of their library of over 1000 games.
Now, many of these games are smaller indie games, or silly kids ones, but that doesn’t mean they are terrible. For a start, we have two mini gamer kids in the household who love to play kids games, and I have played some amazing indie games in my time too.
There are a couple of big name games available like Borderlands and Batman Arkham City (both great games), and some seriously weird (and possibly wonderful) ones too – like Fireworks Simulator. Incidentally, I am now dying to steal James’s laptop in order to try that last one out.

I chose this Super Mario Breakfast Set from Paladone for the gamers gift guide because I know how much Georgie is going to love this! Our little Mario addict adores her cereal in the morning, and is getting a bit old for our current stash of kid bowls – and this Mario bowl is a much more exciting one to use rather than the boring adult ones James and I have. Who wants to be using plain white when you can have a Mario bowl instead?! It’s a good size bowl and makes a great practical gift for any fan of the adventuring plumber.
Nintendo Games

Of course, what do gamers really love getting for Christmas? New games! We are really into our Switch at the moment, and these are the games which are going to be getting unwrapped this December in this house. The Switch is a brilliant family console, and all four of us love to play on it – I’m sure these games will be getting a lot of play from all four of us!
Mario PJs

I saw these PJs in Primark the other day and just couldn’t resist them for Georgie. She is a huge Mario fan and is currently totally addicted to creating levels and playing the endless challenge on Super Mario Maker 2. She’s actually pretty good at level design – especially for an 8 year old – her auto Mario levels (where you don’t have to touch the controller and Mario moves around the level to the end flag entirely due to the level mechanics) are brilliant & very inventive and creative.

I love the controller holder, they should do them in a selection of characters. Personally I’d like one of Same Porter from Death Stranding, but my daughter would love Solid Snake. The mario bowl is really cute, my Little Man would love that. I need a new Switch game for the Little Man, I wonder if he’d like Spyro? (I can remember buying Spyro for my eldest daughter when she was young and they gave away a limited edition of the soft toy Spyro, but the shop hadn’t got any left and my daughter burst into tears. In the end the one of the staff gave her one she’d put aside for herself…I think it was Currys in Northfield, what a long time ago.) Thanks for the inspiration x
