Lydia’s 1st Birthday

Home Chit Chat Lydia’s 1st Birthday

A couple of weeks ago, our little girl turned one. I blogged about our plans before her birthday for a relaxed & low-key celebration, and that is exactly what we had.

James came down the night before, so he was here for his littlest girl’s first birthday, which was really lovely. We weren’t sure he would be able to come down so I’m really pleased he was here.

We spent a happy morning at playgroup where my cakes went down very well indeed, with appeals for more another day.  Lydia impressed everyone with her walking about the hall, and even grabbed one of the little pushchairs to push about. She had a good nap after such a fun morning!

Mum came home from work a few hours early, so we could all sit together for Lydia to open her presents. Georgie helped a bit with this, although Lydia did catch on to the pulling the paper action before we were done. Georgie would start her off a bit, and then wave it at her little sister, saying “pull this bit, Lydie!”

Our lucky little Lydia got a nice pile of presents, with the ride on Fisher-Price dolphin from my parents being an immediate winner! Lydia had the concept of pushing herself along cracked in her first or second go.

Once all her presents were unwrapped, we sat down to a really delicious roast dinner cooked by my Dad who is a pro at roast dinners! The kids were delighted with their special winnie-the-pooh plates and the tablecloth, and Georgie decided it was a lovely party. I’d bought party hats on a silly whim and although Lydia hated it when Dad tried to pop one on her head, Georgie thought they were fantastic.

After baking so many cakes for playgroup the day before, we cheated with a bought cake from Tescos, which the girls were delighted with. Georgie enthusiastically helped Lydia out by blowing out her candle for her. And of course, by eating a big chunk of cake!

Lydia really enjoyed her day, which was nice and full of cake, presents, and cuddles. Everything a one year old desires 🙂
